Mystic Dunes Odor Control System

Toho Water Authority (Toho) is currently designing a permanent, underground odor control system for the air release valves between the Mystic Dunes and Windsor Hills communities. This system will replace the temporary system recently installed. The project is expected to get underway in late spring 2023 and be completed by fall 2023. Schedules could vary according to weather and unforeseen circumstances.

How it works

A concrete structure will be built underground to house the odor control system. The air vented from the release valves will be directed into pipes that go into the underground concrete structure. Slotted pipes will release the odor within the sealed structure where naturally occurring organisms will neutralize the odor. The new system neutralizes the odor, whereas the previous system filtered the air released from the valves. The permanent system will be more robust and durable than the current temporary system. Once the system is complete, it will be maintained to ensure its effectiveness
